Link Building Your Way to #1

It seems like not a month goes by with out someone asking if getting links really helps your website rank better in Google. The short answer is YES!

Google’s search engine ranking algorithm places a heavy preference on websites that have links from other related websites.

But don’t let that fool you into thinking that More Links = Better Rankings. While links do influence your websites position, getting a million links will not cause your website to jump to the first page of Google. Also because of Google’s Penguin Update in April 2012 you now need to be very careful to build links the right way.

Google uses over 200 factors to determine which websites deserve to be at the top. Each factor carries a different level of significance and the algorithm is constantly evolving, making it difficult to reverse engineer.

Cracking the Search Engine Optimization Code

Google is very secretive about what factors are used to determine the order of search results. This is probably because they make billions of dollars each year selling PPC ads. If people knew exactly what is needed to get their website to the top of the search results, they obviously would not need to spend money on PPC advertising.

There are three primary things you can do to improve your websites ranking: Link Building, Optimizing Your Site, Creating Valuable Content.
